Okay, look. Keys. Keys are the worst. Seriously. Ever get halfway to work and, like, have that sinking feeling? Did I lock it? Did I not lock it? Did I leave it on the counter again? Or worse, actually lose the darn things? Ugh. It happened last Tuesday after Zumba class, nightmare finding the spare under the garden gnome. So yeah, going keyless seems cool. Tap phone, done. Magic! But is it actually… good? Or just more tech junk?
People talk about these smart locks. Bluetooth? Wifi? Zigbee? Sounds like something out of Star Wars. My friend Brenda got one last year, the touchscreen kind? Yeah, the battery died in like minus two weeks, and she was locked out in her fuzzy bathrobe. Neighbours saw everything. Awkward much? So battery life is kinda a big deal, maybe you need solar panels or something? Dunno.
Then there’s installing it. They say “retrofit” or “easy install”. My partner tried putting up a simple Ikea shelf once… we needed new drywall. So “easy” is relative, ya know? Plus my door’s kinda old. Warped wood, original to the house probably. Will it even fit? And what happens if the internet goes down? Do I get stuck outside forever? Or inside? Trapped with the cats… again.
Still, the whole tap-to-open thing is crazy tempting. No more rummaging while the groceries spill, or trying three weird keys when it’s dark. Just… phone. Or maybe a little fob. Sounds convenient. Supposedly they’re more secure than basic deadbolts? Some expert on a podcast I heard snippets of talked about hardened steel and auto-locking after 30 seconds. Sounded legit. But then Brenda’s disaster… confusing. Security cameras might be a better spend? Or just getting a big dog named Bruno.

And the whole “Smart Home” angle… Alexa unlock my door? I barely trust Alexa to play the right radio station! Does that actually work reliably? And hackers? Someone mentioned hackers just vibing in and unlocking stuff? Spooky. Though honestly, who’d hack me? My biggest secret is where I hide the good snacks.
So yeah. Keyless living? Sounds awesome in theory. Less hassle, futuristic coolness. But the tech seems… finicky. Pricey. Prone to random fails or battery angst. You’d need to deffinitly get one with a physical key override, that feels essential. And maybe keep that spare gnome key anyway, just in case.
Thinking about the level lock plus, specifically. It hides inside the deadbolt, right? Kinda sneaky, like nobody knows it’s a smart lock. Is that good for security or bad? Looks normal. But does hiding the smarts mean it overheats or something? Seems popular, though. Costs more than my last vacuum cleaner. Is it worth it? Honestly? If your current lock is falling apart, or you constantly lose keys, maybe yeah? The sheer convenience of unlocking without touching metal jingly things might be the selling point right there. But if your lock works fine and you never misplace keys… maybe spend the cash on tacos instead? Gotta weigh the actual annoyance of keys versus the potential annoyance of smart lock glitches. My head hurts thinking about it. Tacos sound good. Is it lunchtime yet? Where are my keys…
